Playboy cigars' launch sets the night on fire

Playboy is not just a girlie magazine. It's also a cigar. The name of Hugh Hefner's girlie mag was on the stogies that were introduced on Friday night to the members of the P&L Smoking Club at their Cohiba Atmosphere venue in Central's Hing Wai Building.

'We make them and licensed the Playboy brand name,' said Eric Piras (pictured with models) of Altadis Cigars. The brand's fitting double-entendre slogan is: 'You never forget your first.' (Add your own Bill Clinton joke here.)

To accompany the Dominican Republic-made smokes, a bevy of girls in skimpy costumes were hired to entice the lads to puff some Playboy.

Ironically, none of the beauties had bunny ears on but, hey, who's looking up there? You can't argue with the marketing ploy, given that the private cigar club is primarily a boy's domain.

'We have over 1,000 members but, yes, we can count on our hands the number that are females,' marketing director Audrey Choong confessed about the year-old club.

'Those women tend to be strong and confident. Most of them run their own business. Unfortunately, there is still a perception in Hong Kong that girls who smoke cigars are bad girls.' (Insert Monica Lewinsky joke here.)
