    Vanessa Hudgens was born on 14 December 1988 in California and had an interest in performing from a very young age, starring in local theatre productions of musicals such as , and . As an 8-year-old, Vanessa had her first acting role in an episode of the sitcom . Following her appearance on the series, she guest-starred in several television programmes and theatre productions. The brunette beauty had her major breakout in the industry when she was awarded the lead role of Gabriella Montez in the High School Musical franchise, with hit song a duet with Zac Efron, peaking at number 4 on the US Billboard chart. The Disney Channel star went on to win three Teen Choice and one Kids Choice award for her work in the role.

    In 2007 Vanessa began recording her first studio album V and later starred as the lead in film , Beastly and James Franco film in 2011. The actress began a relationship with High School Musical co-star Zac Efron in 2005 but the pair ended their relationship 5 years later. The 26-year-old is very close friends with fellow HSM alum Ashley Tisdale and was a bridesmaid at her wedding to Christopher French in 2014.
